Aid Lebanon launched a unique new project, The Student Medical Committee, on August 9, 2022. This committee was established with the goal of enhancing public health awareness and healthcare access in Lebanon. Following an exhaustive interview procedure, 12 medical students from around Lebanon were chosen to carry out the critical job of piloting the Committee's programs.
The present economic crisis has severely harmed Lebanon's healthcare sector. Lack of medical supplies, costly services, and physician brain drain all hampered everyone's access to competent treatment.
The Committee convened its first meeting with both a sorrowful heart and a burning enthusiasm. The Committee agreed on the importance of free medical days with sufficient patient follow-up, free medicine distribution campaigns, financing for medical research, and adequate targeting of disadvantaged people. Appropriate fundraising ideas were also suggested in order to fund the team's ambitious goals.
Melhem stated that Aid Lebanon strongly believes that amassing young, like-minded, and educated future physicians is the first step of a long to-do list.
Aid Lebanon is very proud and optimistic about this effort. Health is one of the most crucial cornerstones of a secure and happy society, and we are confident that a project of this level will have a good influence on our country.
