Mr. Nehme Gerges Melhem, President & CEO of Aid Lebanon, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Henry Sankoh Jr., President and CEO of Kidney Savers Foundation, as the Co-Director of the Pan-African Synergy for Progress Initiative (PASP).
The initiative will now be co-directed by Mr. Melhem and Dr. Sankoh, combining their expertise and leadership to drive sustainable development and improve health outcomes across Africa. Following a productive conference call, Dr. Sankoh accepted the invitation to co-direct this significant initiative.
Dr. Sankoh brings a wealth of experience and leadership, having founded Kidney Savers Foundation in Sierra Leone, a country facing substantial challenges as a low-resource, low-income nation. His work addresses the critical issue of chronic kidney disease, which has become a global health burden affecting all age groups.
Mr. Melhem has also promised the expansion of the AID Medical Mission to Dr. Sankoh's area in the future, further enhancing healthcare access and impact. Together, they will work closely with partners across Africa to ensure transparency and effectiveness in all collaborative efforts.
A meeting is soon to be held between all African partners and Aid Lebanon to discuss the future direction and strategies for PASP, ensuring that the initiative continues to deliver meaningful and lasting change.
Dr. Sankoh's leadership roles include serving as Public Health Director and Public Relations Officer for the Sierra Leone Medical Students Association (SLEMSA), where he was instrumental in launching the School to School Kidney Awareness Sensitization, reaching over 5,000 school pupils. He also organized Sierra Leone’s first kidney walk campaign on World Kidney Day 2022 and played a key role in the Bus to Bus Covid-19 Sensitization campaign during his term as an Executive Board member of SLEMSA.
As a certified Kidney Health Coach for the American Kidney Fund, Dr. Sankoh is dedicated to advocating for kidney health, preventive medicine, and addressing related health issues such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health. His passion for research and providing psychosocial counseling aligns with PASP's mission.
We are excited to have Dr. Sankoh on board as we continue to expand our efforts and impact through PASP. His expertise and commitment will undoubtedly contribute to the success of our shared goals.
